Responsibilities
Ensuring that the requirements of the contract documents are implemented and maintained throughout the Contract period.
Assist in the review of contractual notices of claims and providing contractual advice to the Engineering in their administration of the Construction Contract.
Interaction with the Client representatives, the Project Management Consultant, and relevant Contractors in respect of all contractual matters.
Assists in drafting commercial terms for design, engineering, and/or construction services for approval by the Contracts Director.
Reviews all contract documents to ensure congruity and minimize patent and latent ambiguities.
Assists with administration of ongoing Contracts, including monitoring Contractor and commission compliance with the Contract documents.
Investigates problems and recommend corrective action.
Prepares correspondence and maintains records necessary to ensure the effective administration of all Contractual matters.
Facilitates the preparation of Contract change and prepares the relevant variation orders.
Facilitates the contract close-out procedures to ensure that all terms and conditions of contracts have been complied with prior to final payment to the contractor.
Ensures that all contractual procedures are implemented and maintained.
Assists in all contractual matters.
Assists in the review of Contractor’s claims in accordance with the provisions of the Conditions of Contract and ensures the Client’s interests are protected.
Ensures all warranties, bonds, insurances, guarantees, etc., are in place and maintained, updated per the Contract, and are in compliance with the Client's requirements.
Assists the Estimation and Project Control teams in respect of contractual implications of change orders.
Prepares Recommendations for Release of Retention and Bonds.
Prepares monthly reports for review.
Assists in the preparation of Monthly Progress Reports.
Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of Engineer’s Instructions, Variation Orders, and Claim Logs.
Attends Commercial Meetings and records minutes of meetings.
Informs themselves of the relevant Quality, Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Policies, Manuals, and Procedures in place within Hill International, and ensures continued compliance with these requirements while employed by Hill.
Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager/supervisor.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications
B.Sc. Degree in Engineering or Quantity Surveying and have a minimum of 15 years experience.
Professional Membership such as RICS and training in construction contract law are required.
Proven claims background.
Experience as claims writer.
Worked previously for claims/ consultants.

Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb)- Preferable.
Member of Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB)- Preferable.
Associate Member of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (Assoc RICS)- Preferable.
Member of the Society of Construction Law.
LB (Hons).
MRICS and/or MCIArb professional qualifications.
Ideally, a legal qualification, Construction law ideal.
