Requirements for Sustainability Manager
Responsibilities
Develop tunnel sustainability project goals, objectives, initiatives, and strategies, in collaboration with other Technical Divisions and Departments, to achieve the Envision Rating System’s Sustainable Infrastructure Framework Guidance Manual.
Implement and monitor sustainability initiatives, considering factors such as best practices, cost-effectiveness, and technical feasibility.
Champion high standards of environmental performance within multidisciplinary engineering projects, influencing project development and delivering optimal environmental outcomes in line with the Client’s Master Plan Vision.
Provide technical and administrative support for sustainability programs and challenges.
Project and track sustainability indicators, such as likely procurement process, energy usage, natural resource usage, waste generation, recycling, etc.
Research and review regulatory, technical, and market issues related to sustainability practices globally and specifically in the Middle East.
Advise, develop and review sustainability proposals or policies.
Present best practice information about sustainability initiatives to inform senior management.
Develop reports/ presentations to communicate the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives.
Identify needed resources and partners to implement sustainability programs or projects.
Participate in marketing, such as brochures or websites, to communicate sustainability issues, procedures, or objectives.
Identify, modify or create new sustainability indicators suitable for NEOM standards.
Provide technical planning advice including the development of procurement processes, procedures & guidelines suitable to the project’s sustainability.
Meet with stakeholders and regulators and obtain statutory approvals for procurement and environmental components of projects.
Deliver Sustainability assessment across of range of topics and initiatives providing clear, well-written reports.
Competently undertake own work to an excellent standard and review the work of others.
Able to manage clients' needs and present well-developed ideas in a confident, professional manner.
To document and protect Archaeological and Heritage assets.
prepare and implement a procedure to conduct spot-checks of contractors/staff on a regular basis to identify any evidence of looting.
All monitoring results shall be reported to the NEOM Environment as part of the Weekly Environmental Report.
Qualifications
15+ years of related work experience, preferably with a minimum of 3 years in the Middle East region.
A Master’s degree in environmental planning or related discipline is preferred.
LEED Certification or equivalent.
ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System
Ability to professionally and effectively communicate both orally and in writing
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Adobe Professional, office automation products, and creating and manipulating environmental databases
