Job Purpose:

The Resilient Computing and Cybersecurity Center (RC3) at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) requires a Computer Systems Specialist with strong documented experience and competence in one or more of the following specialties: systems engineering, software engineering, and network engineering.

As the Computer Systems Specialist you will lead the set-up of the computing and networking infrastructure for the RC3 labs; oversee local Information Technology applications and software systems; and support research and development activities.

You will set up, manage and enhance environments and frameworks to support the Center's activity, namely its dedicated computing and networking subsystems, local IT subsystems such as Web and shared repositories, SW systems and development platforms; support and be involved in the researchers' activities and projects, namely experiments, proof-of-concept prototypes and demonstrators.

Major Accountabilities:

You will:

Ensure the efficient and effective operation of RC3 local IT subsystems such as Web and shared repositories, SW systems and development platforms.

Define, procure, configure, implement and manage software solutions, in order to enhance the Center’s activity.

Provide training and expert advice to users as needed.

Ensuring alignment with IT policy standards.

Assist in the technical implementation of the digital communication plans and contents.

Education:

A Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.

Experience:

You will have:

4+ years of experience required in: general cybersecurity expertise.

A mature understanding of the technological and business aspects of modern ICT systems.

Previous experience in academic or research environments is desirable.

Technical Experience:

Depending on the specialty(ies), we expect documented experience in one or more of:

Web-based and internet technologies, DevOps toolchains, multimedia content development, and systems administration.
Embedded systems, embedded code, code generation.
Network protocols such as Ethernet, UDP, CAN, TCP/IP, security protocols.
C / C++, HTML5, CSS3, Java, PHP, SQL, Python, DLLs, web programming, security principles, object-oriented design, etc.
Off-line and real-time simulation tools such as MATLAB-Simulink, RSCAD (RTDS), RT-LAB (OPAL-RT), including hardware-in-loop (HIL) and software-in-loop (SIL).
PC hardware (PCI/PCIe devices), oscilloscopes and signal analyzers.
