Group Director of Talent & Culture

An exceptional opportunity presents itself for a Group Director of Talent & Culture to be part of an iconic Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel, Raffles Makkah Palace, Swissotel Makkah and Swissotel Al Maqam Makkah Hotel.

This position is responsible for the oversight and management of the properties' Talent & Culture Department and pertains to all areas which support AccorHotel's philosophy of creating an environment where each and every member of the team is recognized and feels valued for their contribution.

The Group Director of Talent & Culture, will lead all elements of the Talent Journey including Employer Branding, Recruitment & Selection, Induction & Onboarding, Performance Management & Feedback, Colleague Engagement, Learning & Development, Talent Management, Career Management, Culture Diversity & Inclusion, Policies & Procedures, Reward & Recognition, Compensation & Benefits, Health & Wellness, Corporate Social Responsibility, Financial Management, and Labour Relations (where applicable) with the objective of providing business support to all departments through collaboration and coaching.

The Group Director of Talent & Culture is to ensure that all members of the team are aware of the Company's Vision and Mission, living the values with consistent behavior to enable excellence in serving and anticipating guest and colleague needs.

Hotel Overview: Makkah Clock Royal Tower, A Fairmont Hotel, is located only a few steps away from the Masjid Al Haram and the Holy Ka'aba. This 76-story hotel, one of the world's tallest, is the focal point of the Abraj Al Bait Complex, part of the King Abdul Aziz Endowment Project, is the iconic symbol of hospitality in the Holy City. The hotel authentic hospitality is seen throughout 1618 guest rooms and suites are thoughtfully and elegantly appointed with extravagant amenities and five-star services that allow for peaceful reflection and repose.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to Managing Director, FRSS Makkah Hotels, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Custodian of the Company Culture

- Promote, live and demonstrate Company Values.
- Share the vision and strategy of AccorHotels, the brand and the property, giving everyone the opportunity to contribute, collaborate and innovate.
- Ensure that all team members feel trusted and valued for their accountability and risks.

Employer Branding

- Prepare and implement strategic activities for attracting talent to the property.
- Establish relationships with local schools and colleges/universities.
- Lead Talent & Culture social media initiatives to promote the property as the best place to work.
- Submit entries in local T&C and Employer recognition awards.
- Provide monthly articles for publication in the internal communication networks.
- Assist the General Manager to establish owner's understanding of the financial impact of non-compliance in providing support for the talent journey activities.

Recruitment and Selection

- Lead activities that ensure that the property has the right talent in the right role.
- Lead the selection process of all leadership positions.
- Engage in processes which assist in spotting talent inside and outside the organization.
- Prepare a budget of talent needs based on business strategies.
- Monitor and align staffing to business needs.
- Identify high potentials through vertical and lateral movements within existing talent by providing departmental transfers in accordance to their skill set.
- Assist in monitoring present and future trends in the local labor environment, and make appropriate recommendations.

Induction and Onboarding

- Follow and implement all company and brand-established onboarding procedures which ensure new employees feel welcome and all team members are prepared for the new colleagues' arrival.
- Co-ordinate and conduct company and brand-specific orientation and training programs.
- Ensure feedback from new colleagues in their first month of employment is sought.
- Ensure job task checklists are completed and on file for all new colleagues within their first month of employment.
- Ensure all probationary reviews are completed in a timely manner.

Performance Assessment and Feedback - Primary

- Organize annual performance review process in line with company policies, procedures, and Leadership Competency/Capability Framework.
- Assist Departmental Leaders and Senior Managers with the development of specific action plans to address issues and concerns identified in colleague surveys.
- Work with line managers to analyze performance by identifying area for improvement.
- Create an environment that supports open ongoing feedback and coaching to bridge gaps for better performance.
- Assist managers in setting objectives and goals which are SMART and aligned with the business strategy.
- Establish Talent and Culture KPIs to represent a balanced score card.

Colleague Engagement - Primary/Support

- Co-ordinate annual colleague survey.
- Ensure survey results are communicated to all colleagues.
- Work with leaders to develop effective action plans to address areas of concern identified in the annual survey.
- Establish/ implement retention strategies to fulfill succession planning and business objectives.
- Monitor productivity, sick leave and turnover as indicators of disengagement.
- Establish processes to reduce/minimize the turnover rate.

Learning and Development - Support

- Conduct/review annual training needs analysis and budget accordingly.
- Ensure all Company and Brand standard training and development programs are being offered/conducted as required.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs for ROI.
- Ensure personal development plans for all leaders are in place and being completed.
- Ensure all talent has access to learning opportunities.

Talent Management - Primary/Support

- Assist Managers in completing talent potential assessments for all leadership talent.
- Lead the annual Talent Review Process.
- Assist leaders in the preparation of succession plans.
- Maximize the use of talent assessment tools to ensure the right person is in the right role and /or recognized for future roles.
- Provide access to development activities for star talent.
- Maintain accurately and up-to-date data in Talent Management Systems.

Career Management - Primary/Support

- Understand the career ambitions of star talent and ensure this is communicated within the leadership team and data is up to date in Talent Management systems.
- Coach leaders on career paths available with AccorHotels Properties.
- Ensure vacancies within AccorHotels Properties are displayed for all to apply.
- Provide fair and equitable processes for internal promotion.

Rewards and Recognition - Support

- Ensure all Company reward and recognition programs are active within the property.
- Promote Work-Life Balance to achieve a healthy workforce.
- Plan, coordinate and execute colleague events/activities to ensure talent engagement and promote a positive working atmosphere.
- Recognize key events in the lives of our colleagues including birthdays, marriages, births and loss of loved ones.
- Share guest feedback and guest service scores including individual talent mentions.

Cultural Diversity and Inclusion - Support

- Demonstrate the AccorHotels values in all behaviors and identify and address integrity gaps in others.
- Communicate the Company's code of Ethics/CSR Charter, monitor the behaviors of others and address any behavior which is not in line with Code/Charter.
- Support diversity in the selection and management of talent ensuring equality of treatment based on competencies.
- Communicate all corporate diversity programs such as Women at AccorHotels Generation and He For She and support through active participation in any associated activities.

Compliance - Support

- Understand, communicate, implement, and adhere to all Talent & Culture policies and procedures.
- Ensure Company standard colleague handbooks are in place, have been issued to all colleagues, and compliance is monitored.
- Provide the leadership team with regular updates on local laws and legislation to ensure compliance.
- Provide advice to leaders on all employment issues in accordance to the statutory requirements.
- Provide a safe working environment by ensuring local regulations are upheld for workplace health and safety.
- Ensure regular fire drills, evacuations and training on safety and emergency procedures.
- Gain a thorough understanding of the AccorHotels and brand-specific Crisis Procedures and followed.

Compensation and Benefits - Support

- Conduct and lead the annual salary/merit review process; in keeping with Company policies and procedures.
- Participate in regionally sponsored compensation surveys.
- Review compensation to ensure and maintain internal equity and competitiveness with the industry norm.
- Review job descriptions and job specifications to stay relevant with the property industry and currency of skill requirements.
- Ensure gender equality in enumeration packages.

Health & Wellness - Support

- Implement flexible work practices where possible;
- Provide adequate staff benefits and amenities;
- Provide support to colleagues who have undergone any crisis situation or trauma;
- Actively participate as a member of the property's Health & Safety Committee
- Ensure colleague areas and dining room are well maintained and in meet Company standards.
- Lead hotel wellness initiatives and activities (e.g. wellness days)

Corporate Social Responsibility -Primary

- Support the local community through coordination and participation in strategic CSR activities.
- Provide education to the talent on key areas of corporate concern including Planet 21, WATCH and the AccorHotels Ethics/Charter.
- Provide opportunities for talent to share their ideas and to contribute to the community.
- Identify public relations opportunities that support employer branding.

Financial Management -Support/Primary

- Prepare annual T&C Hotel Budget in accordance with AccorHotels guidelines.
- Complete accurate monthly re-forecasting and accrual processes.
- Effectively manage departmental budget.
- Coach leaders with effective labor management strategies to meet productivity budgets.

Labour Relations - Support

- Maintain harmonious labour management relations.

Exit Interview - Support

- Ensure exit interviews are completed for all departing colleagues to understand reason for leaving.
- Analyze and summarize exit interview results at the end of every year for senior leaders to review.
- Ensure final pay is accurate, timely, and in keeping with legislative requirements.

Qualifications

- Computer Skills - Strong computer skills, particularly Excel and preferably.
